When to Use the Back-Up Provider Services (BUPS)?
The Back-Up Provider Services (BUPS) provide short-term, immediate services to IHSS Consumers who are in urgent need of personal care and have been referred by IHSS social workers.
Circumstances that qualify as urgent needs include:
- Being discharged from the hospital or another facility without anyone at home to help.
- Regular provider is not available.
- A Provider has not yet been hired.
- A critical need for personal care or a domestic task that cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled Provider visit.
If you feel you are in need of BUPS, call your social worker, who will send a referral to the Public Authority.
An BUPS counselor will call you, assess your needs, and arrange for an BUPS Provider to come to you.
