General Summary

The Public Authority's Mentorship Program helps people receiving IHSS services to find stable home care Providers, navigate the IHSS system, and get connected toother resources to help promote independent living throughout San Francisco. With a team of four full-time staff and several part-time mentors, the Mentorship Program ensures that IHSS clients feel heard, have their question answered, and do not feel alone while transitioning from institutional skill-nursing care to home-based support, trying to fill out forms, or when interveiwing home care Providers. The Mentorship Program Manager drives the team to acheive its goals for serving clients with a culture of empathy, encouragement, and a solutions-based approach.

Reporting Manager: Deputy Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Lead a team of four full-time staff which includes 2 Mentorship Service Coordinators and 2 Community Engagement Coordinators. 

2. Ensure the success of program through program metric analysis, program budget oversight, and strategic planning to improve and enhance the program services and to meet the evolving needs of the aging and disability community. 

3. Stay up-to-date and informed on changes within the IHSS Program and other issues affecting the aging and disability communities to ensure services are evolving as necessary. 

4. Develop strong relationships with different community agencies and partners serving the aging and disability population. 

5. Collaborate with the Executive and Deputy Directors on projects and provide solutions and suggestions to further the development and success of the Mentorship Program. 

6. Create outreach tools to enhance the visibility of the Mentorship Program in the community. 

7. Develop and implement an effective process to recruit and retain Mentors to the Mentorship Program. 

8. Ensure all stipend time sheets for the peer mentors are submitted to the Fiscal and Operations Manager promptly for payment processing. 

9. Coordinate with the HR Generalist to onboard new mentors. 

10. Provide leadership and supervision necessary to maintain the quality of the program. 

11. Prepare and submit all programmatic reports as required.

Skills & Qualifications

1. Experience as a program leader and/or work within human services preferred. 

2. Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent. 

3. Experience working with people with disabilities, seniors, low-income or other underserved communities strongly preferred. 

4. Experience with training, case management, and/or outreach and engagement preferred. 

5. Strong organizational, administrative, and planning skills. 

6. Effective verbal and written communication 

7. Strong analytical skills and ability to provide statistical reports through entering, tracking, and analyzing data in databases.  

8. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and browser-based web applications. 

9. Ability to take ownership of assigned projects and complete projects with minimal supervision.
